Introduction
Mourning means all the negative thoughts, words and actions exhibited by people because somebody died. All these bad practices disturb the departed ones in spirit, and at times, delay their spiritual journey back to God.

Negative Thoughts Entertained During Mourning
         They are:
  1. Hopelessness.
  2. Regrets.
  3. Sorrows.
  4. Sadness.
  5. Ill-will.
Negative Words Spoken During mourning
There are so many written or spoken words expressed during mourning that are not good:
  1. “All hope is lost.”

  2. “The family is in a dilemma.”

  3. "The daylight has turned into darkness.”

  4. “This world has no meaning.”

  5. “Man is vanity.”

  6. “With gratitude to God, we regret to announce……..” How can a family be grateful to God and at the same time regretting? This is hypocrisy.

  7. “Transition to Glory,” when the person neither knew God nor respected His laws.

  8. “With pains in our hearts…….”

  9. “We received the news of you death with a shock……..”

  10. “Death is a debt everyone shall pay……” Death is a not debt. It is like a door. Coming in is a birth, and going out is death. Yet, there is no death as humans think on earth.

  11. “You would have waited for us to come home before you die…”

  12. “Painful exit.”

  13. “An unbearable shock.” Yet, many families eventually bear the shock.

  14. “He died after he has labored, and when he supposes to reap the fruits of his labour.” God does not reward His people on earth but in heaven. Besides, every man should perform all his duties as service offering to God, without expecting rewards, thanks, praises, force or persuasion.

  15. “Life is a mystery to man.” Man is spirit, and spirit is life. Only ignorance makes life seem a mystery.

  16. “What a bad news!”

  17. “With the greatest sorrowful heart…….”

  18. “As we feel the sadness of this loss.” Well, death is neither a loss nor a bad thing. It is only a door.

  19. “How are the mighty fallen.” The mighty does not fall at death. They live on. That was why Jesus said He is the resurrection and life, and those who believe in Him shall never die.

  20. “Whom did you leave your family for?” God takes care of all.

  21. “It was with mixed feelings of sadness and joy.” Everybody should strive to be a saint. A saint neither grieves nor gets sad. You should know that many of the above statements are false and hypocritical. People quickly say things that easily confuse those who are not spiritually awake.

Negative Actions Exhibited During Mourning
During the period of mourning, people do all kinds of things which amount to foolishness in spirit:
  1. Crying and weeping, which are signs that people are spiritually dead and ignorant.

  2. Singing mourning songs or playing sorrowful music. This is the handwork of demons, for they rejoice to see people in sadness.

  3. Smashing windscreen of vehicles on the roads. This is a terrible sin punishable in hell.

  4. Pulling out or damaging fruits that have done no wrong. To kill a plant without any good reason is the same thing as having committed suicide. Be warned.

  5. Playing masquerades, following them about or watching them. Masquerades are demonic, and you cannot serve both God and Devil.

  6. Carrying corpses about, from one place to another. The right and best thing to do is to move a corpse along the shortest route.

  7. Playing noisy songs or booming sounds and bombarding music. Noise is a nuisance, detrimental to health and spiritual life.

  8. Kissing the corpse.

  9. Touching the corpse.

  10. Bowing to the corpse.

  11. Dancing on the grave.

  12. Sleeping with a corpse.

  13. Paying tributes to the dead in the form of funeral orations, speeches, etc. all that is necessary is gratitude to God, and if necessary, a brief life profile.
